July 31, 2013, at 10:34 pm | The other day, I walked into a room to find Jim scolding Jimmy while the girls were standing by. Becky saw me come in and said, “Mama, your face says: ‘OK guys, let’s talk about this.’”
******
Jimmy, playing with the toy kitchen: “Me cook, Mama.”
Me: “What are you cooking?”
Jimmy: “Meat. Raw meat.”
******
Me, to the girls: “Time to go down and work on our workbooks!”
Becky: “I can’t walk. You have to carry me.”
Me: “Why?”
Becky: “I can only walk downstairs if we don’t work on our workbooks and we just eat popcorn.”
*******
The kids and I drove by a large tent set up in a neighbor’s yard, and I started wondering out loud what the tent would be used for.
Me: “Maybe they’re using that tent for a wedding.”
Susie: “Or a party.”
Becky: “Or a fair.”
Susie: “Or a meeting.”
Jimmy: “Or…POOP!!” Then he cackled maniacally.
*******
Me: “Remember guys, you can only write on paper.”
Susie: “If you live in a paper house, you can write on everything.”
July 30, 2013, at 10:12 pm | I guess it’s only fair that Jimmy has adopted the girls’ birthday scooter, since they appropriated all his birthday toys!
Look how well he does, for only one day’s practice:

July 25, 2013, at 11:10 pm | Sitting on a hill is great…
Sitting on a hill making funny faces is even better!
July 24, 2013, at 11:13 pm | We ran into some friends of ours at the library today and decided to take a group hike at a nearby park. My girls were ecstatic that not only were they going to get to spend the afternoon with their beloved friends, but they were going to get to tromp through the woods in dresses!
Here are the kids midway through the hike – sweaty and loving it!
Although I’ve been there plenty of times before, my friend showed me some trails that were new to me. She even showed us where the wild raspberries were growing:
The fun of the afternoon could only be expressed by twirling across an open field!
July 23, 2013, at 9:40 pm | Jimmy practicing blowing bubbles:
Here’s an old video of the girls demonstrating their bubble blowing techniques. They were roughly the same age as Jimmy is now (2.5 years old):
We’ll see if Danny demonstrates a similar lack of bubble skills at this age – I guess it’s harder than it looks!
July 22, 2013, at 9:28 pm | We hit our favorite bike trail Sunday night, and the kids all rode their big-wheel trikes down the path as fast as their little legs would carry them.
See them way down there?
They wouldn’t stay still long enough for a decent picture!
Danny was eager for his turn:
Afterwards, we had dinner and ice cream outside where the kids enjoyed picking flowers (a.k.a. weeds):
Notice Becky’s shiner on her left eye? Poor kid knocked into her brother’s hard head the other day. Good thing she likes the color purple!

ABOUT US I'm blessed to be saved by the grace of God, loved by my wonderful husband Jim, and embraced by my twin girls, Rebecca Faith and Susanna Joy and my sons Jimmy and Danny. I started this blog in May 2008 when I was hospitalized for pre-term labor at 24 weeks gestation. The Lord allowed me to keep the girls inside until they were 34 weeks along, and on July 27th, Rebecca made her debut, followed by Susanna, five minutes later, on July 28th. We ecstatically welcomed Jimmy into our lives on April 25th, 2011, and Danny on August 31, 2012. This blog has been a personal journal of faith and motherhood and the only way I can remember which child did what and when. Thanks for stopping by to share in my Faith and Joy! Feel free to e-mail me at: [email protected].
