I think we can all agree the best part of baking is the spoon-licking!
This kid just makes me laugh:
For the non-initiated, here’s the lyrics he’s attempting to sing (in the wrong order), to the theme song of Despicable Me: “I’m having a bad bad day / Steamrolling whatever I see / It’s about time that I get my way / If you take it personal, that’s okay / Watch, this is so fun to see / Huh, Despicable Me.”
Anyone care to guess what these two were doing? Give up? Susie was playing “beauty salon” and convinced her brother to be her so-called “patient” (you can see her other victim waiting her turn on the toilet). I’m just glad he didn’t actually end up a patient in the ER with a head wound! Recently, during the girls’ afternoon quiet time, I heard little footsteps coming downstairs. I intercepted Susie, who explained she really needed ice for a “science experiment” she and Becky had dreamed up. I was intrigued, so I indulged her and brought some ice up to their room. She excitedly placed the ice cubs in a pencil case where she had put a bunch of crayon shards and wrappers. She said she and Becky wanted to see if the crayons would “harden” with the ice, or if everything would melt. They were already figuring out trial and error, because their first try involved dumping water in and seeing what would happen! I took this video of the girls detailing their science experiment to me. I was trying to teach them some of the proper terms (like hypothesis and conclusion) and they were very excited by the whole thing – maybe I have a few scientists on my hands! The girls told me they were having a “skirt party.” I guess their brother got invited!
Jim can’t get on his ATV without four helpers eagerly scrambling aboard. I don’t think he would have it any other way!
Danny’s attention span for movies is about twenty seconds long… …but he always likes to dance with the theme music!
Susie got a little more than she bargained for tonight when she thought my olive oil mister was hairspray…
In her defense, it does look pretty enough to be a hair product (and as a bonus, I didn’t have to use as much conditioner on her hair tonight)! The girls brought home a stuffed snowman from school for a writing project (where they document an outing/activity where the snowman came along). Since we’re snowed in (and I wasn’t going to let the girls take the snowman outside, even though they pleaded that he’d feel at home there!), I let him help us make dinner. He was my quietest chef!
