Snuggles

A few weeks ago, I got Jimmy up from his afternoon nap early for some reason (his naps are hit and miss these days, although I almost always make him stay in his bed for the full duration so he can rest, Danny can sleep, and I can breathe!).  But on this day, I decided to seize the opportunity for a few cuddles, so I took him over to the recliner in another room where I used to rock him.  He snuggled up against my shoulder, and I enjoyed getting a few moments of stillness with my eldest son.  He may not fit in my lap as well as he used to, but I still love to nuzzle his fuzzy head!

Spray Away

What happens when you let little boys help you water the plants?

 photo IMG_1999.jpg

Someone may decide his brother is looking a little dry!

(Here are the boys helping me with the watering a different day.  Clearly, Danny was enjoying watching his big brother work – or NOT work, as the case may be!)

Send Off

The boys LIVE for anything involving their dad.  From the moment they wake up to the time they go to bed, they talk about their daddy.  Their favorite morning activity (apart from raiding their dad’s gum stash) is pushing his car out of the garage as he leaves for work.  The boys feel strong and helpful, and it eases the pain of seeing their favorite person drive away.  And Jim gets to see their cute little heads bending with effort as they eagerly shove him out the door!  It’s a win-win-win!

(Notice Danny is wearing his dad’s shoes – another favorite pastime of his!).

Big Man

Danny is looking so grown-up these days.  Where is my little baby?

Poolside

A few weeks ago, my little guy started off a Pool Boy…

…turned into a Sibling Sprayer…

…and ended up a Mommy Sprayer – which is why there are no more pictures in this series!

Parental Weakness

You know you’re a sucker when you take your daughters clothes shopping, and you preface the trip by insisting you are ONLY buying shirts and pants…

…and you end up buying them each a dress with coordinating doll outfits.

Jimmy had to hide his face to keep from laughing at my parental weakness!

Restaurateurs

The boys are starting to embark on some imaginative play together (including some not-so-imaginative fights!).  Their latest endeavor is playing “restaurant” in the swing set play structure.  Now I just have to convince Danny that his brother’s woodchip meals are not actually edible!

Watery Fun

Our boating and swimming season is over for the year, but here are some pictures of our recent outings (including some pictures from Jim’s new snazzy Go Pro camera):

The Wheels on the Bus

It’s never too early to teach kids the importance of proper wheel cleaning…right, Alli? ;).  Jimmy was a very eager student!

Quotes

Jimmy: “Let’s have a beat contest.”

Me: “What’s that?”

Jimmy: “It’s when you beat people!” (I’m assuming he means beating people AT something, not beating people up!)

****************

Jimmy: “This is frozen salad.”

Me: “What?”

Jimmy: “It’s frozen salad!”

Me: “Oh, you mean frozen SOLID!”

******************

Walking into a run-of-the-mill pharmacy to pick up a prescription with me, Jimmy exclaimed, “WOW, this place is a great…place!”

*****************

After I grabbed Danny off of a fence he was climbing, I asked him, “What do you think you were doing?”

Danny simply said, “Me touch sky.”

I was lying on the couch recently with a bad head cold.  Jimmy came over to me and started asking me a million questions.  I weakly replied, “I can’t talk right now.”

Jimmy said, “Why? I LOVE talking!”
