This was the boys’ contribution to helping us back for our Ocean City vacation – insisting on unfolding every single beach chair we own!

And last but not least, the rides! The stuff that children’s dreams are made of – or at least, my children’s dreams. Becky solidified her role as the daredevil extroardinare, conquering the scariest grown-up ride in the park (the sky-high Double Shot – see the video below), Susie got much bolder, Jimmy was finally tall enough to go on some big kid rides, and Danny even squeaked his way onto a high-flying kite ride. Each night we hit the rides was a perfect way to end the day!
We usually spend most of our time at the Jersey shore doing the same wonderful activities every year – the boardwalk, the beach, the rides, repeat. This year, however, we added an extra outing that turned out to be a great addition – the zoo! I can mark our Ocean City 2015 trip as the first year in recent memory where my time at the beach approached something akin to relaxation! The kids were finally old enough to entertain themselves with the abundant sand and water diversions, and even though I still had to keep a vigilant headcount at all times, I was blessed to be able to occasionally sit and talk with our friends and family. Becky found the courage to do some wave-jumping and wave-riding with her cousins, Susie happily rode the waves like a pro with her Bubba and cousins, Jimmy dug in the sand like an eager puppy dog, and Danny was thrilled with every aspect of the beach – the waves, the endless sand toys, and the crowd of family he could entertain. It was so much fun to watch the kids fall in love with the beach!

My new favorite dessert – ice cream on fresh belgian waffles! Here’s Jim’s cousin Rob playing a game of “Good Idea / Bad Idea” with the kids. He had us all in stitches!
We had a few periods of rain, but we enjoyed the boardwalk nonetheless. Nothing stops these ladies from walking!

The kids pondered all week what toy they wanted as a vacation gift. Susie ended up choosing a stuffed wolf, Becky chose an enormous stuffed owl, Jimmy chose a Ninja warrior set, and Danny chose a tiny toy go-kart. Our nightly ice cream stop! And our late-night 10-cent skeeball games! Where do I begin? We had an awesome week of vacation in Ocean City, New Jersey and I have nearly 200 pictures to prove it! The kids were so cute the whole week, I couldn’t put my camera down. There were over 30 of our family members all together, so it was photo-op central. Here’s the first installment of the pictures, all taken in and around our rental condo (any of the good ones were taken by Jim or our niece Alli!):
