All overheard over the monitor during the boys’ naptime:
Jimmy: “Danny Cole, get back in bed! I’m the big brother!”

Jimmy: “Danny, how you doin’?”
Danny: “I’m sleepin.”

Jimmy: “Daaaaannnnyyy, I’m going to take your picture! Say cheese! I’ll give you a cat treat if you say cheese!”

Jimmy: “That’s hu-normous. That’s a real word.”
Me: “No, it’s either humungous or enormous.”
Jimmy: “Enormous? That doesn’t make any sense. It just means a bag of peanuts.”
(I know. I don’t get it, either)

Me, scolding Jimmy for picking up a bag that didn’t belong to him: “Jimmy, leave that be.”
Jimmy: “You mean bag, not bee.”

Danny was contentedly humming to himself while eating dessert. I said, “I hear some happy noises in there.” Danny looked at his half-eaten Oreo in confusion, then looked at me like I was crazy. He pointed to the cookie and said, “There no happy noises in there!”

Maybe since “enormous” and “elephant” both start with “e” and since elephants eat peanuts, thus a bag of peanuts?!
