Susie: “Dear Hello Kitty, I wish you were the tooth fairy.”
Overheard over the monitor after the boys woke up from their afternoon nap: Jimmy: “Mommy’s here.” Danny: “I know.” Jimmy: “I know more than you.” Danny: “I know.” Jimmy: “But I know more than you.” Danny: “Why?” Jimmy: “Because I said so!” ********* Dad, discussing the boys’ reluctance to do watersports: “Danny, are you a wuss?” Danny: “No. Dibby (Jimmy) wuss.” ********* Susie: “Hey Mom, this fly’s a Christian! It was on your Bible!” ********* I was singing a silly song to Danny to encourage him in his efforts to put on his pants by himself. I kept singing, “Find your foot! Find your foot!” and I burst out in a happy “Hooray!” when his little foot finally popped out the bottom of his pajama pants. Jimmy looked soberly at me and informed me, “That’s not very exciting.” ********* While eating out with the kids, I got frustrated when I noticed that several of the kids had once again spilled dinner on their clothes in such a way that I was going to have difficulty removing the stains. I went on and on about how tired I was of having to buy new clothes to replace their stained clothes. When I finally ended my tirade, Susie commented, “Toys are not as stainable. You should buy more toys and not clothes.” ********* Becky, referring to the swimming pool at swim class: “I know this pool like the top of my chin.” Question: What do you get when you cross a bunch of teenagers, a four-wheeler, and a buggy swamp?
Answer: Mud-caked, bee-stung, happy kids who now know it’s better to use a winch than the throttle get a four-wheeler unstuck! (I took all these pictures a few weeks back when Alli was still here. Life was very exciting when she was around!)
Their swamp adventure didn’t deter them from having more fun in the pool, complete with displays of diving dexterity:

(Note that in addition to sporting binoculars, Jimmy’s also wearing his “camouflage” pants. He calls them his invisible pants.) I just can’t get over Becky’s beautiful ringlets in the summer! At least there’s one upside to humidity! (Here’s a blast from the past when her curls were just coming in!).
