January 28, 2014, at 11:36 pm | Recently, during the girls’ afternoon quiet time, I heard little footsteps coming downstairs. I intercepted Susie, who explained she really needed ice for a “science experiment” she and Becky had dreamed up. I was intrigued, so I indulged her and brought some ice up to their room. She excitedly placed the ice cubs in a pencil case where she had put a bunch of crayon shards and wrappers. She said she and Becky wanted to see if the crayons would “harden” with the ice, or if everything would melt. They were already figuring out trial and error, because their first try involved dumping water in and seeing what would happen!

I took this video of the girls detailing their science experiment to me. I was trying to teach them some of the proper terms (like hypothesis and conclusion) and they were very excited by the whole thing – maybe I have a few scientists on my hands!
January 27, 2014, at 8:44 pm | The girls told me they were having a “skirt party.” I guess their brother got invited!

January 26, 2014, at 9:44 pm | Jim can’t get on his ATV without four helpers eagerly scrambling aboard. I don’t think he would have it any other way!

Danny’s attention span for movies is about twenty seconds long…

…but he always likes to dance with the theme music!

January 22, 2014, at 10:05 pm | Susie got a little more than she bargained for tonight when she thought my olive oil mister was hairspray…
In her defense, it does look pretty enough to be a hair product (and as a bonus, I didn’t have to use as much conditioner on her hair tonight)!
January 21, 2014, at 8:44 pm | The girls brought home a stuffed snowman from school for a writing project (where they document an outing/activity where the snowman came along). Since we’re snowed in (and I wasn’t going to let the girls take the snowman outside, even though they pleaded that he’d feel at home there!), I let him help us make dinner. He was my quietest chef!

January 20, 2014, at 9:37 pm | We had a great visit with friends this weekend. I wish I could fill our house with such wonderful people all the time – I completely sympathized with my girls who cried buckets of tears when everyone left!
Here are the best buds Danny and Breton (they just don’t know it yet!):

Danny wondering whether he can trust Matea with the household toys:

Breton kept us all in stitches (the girls couldn’t get enough of him!):

Danny refereeing the ping pong competition:

Matea stole my heart!

(Her mama’s pretty fond of her kisses, too!)

Becky and her protégé – one day we’ll hopefully have these two out tube-riding together behind the boat!

January 16, 2014, at 9:29 pm | Today, Jimmy informed me I was supposed to respond to his requests with the following:
“Yes, Fireman Jim.”
Anything for you, buddy.

ABOUT US I'm blessed to be saved by the grace of God, loved by my wonderful husband Jim, and embraced by my twin girls, Rebecca Faith and Susanna Joy and my sons Jimmy and Danny. I started this blog in May 2008 when I was hospitalized for pre-term labor at 24 weeks gestation. The Lord allowed me to keep the girls inside until they were 34 weeks along, and on July 27th, Rebecca made her debut, followed by Susanna, five minutes later, on July 28th. We ecstatically welcomed Jimmy into our lives on April 25th, 2011, and Danny on August 31, 2012. This blog has been a personal journal of faith and motherhood and the only way I can remember which child did what and when. Thanks for stopping by to share in my Faith and Joy! Feel free to e-mail me at: [email protected].
