June 3, 2013, at 9:45 pm | The day has come when one of my children operated a piece of equipment I couldn’t. The child was Jimmy.
I was having trouble printing a map out for the kids, and so I stood, staring at my computer, willing it to print wirelessly. I had just checked in the office, where the printer is located, and couldn’t find anything wrong with the machine. While I was back in the kitchen, muttering at my computer, I saw Jimmy head into the office. I made a mental note to go get him in a minute so he didn’t yank all the wires out or cause more problems. But before I could get to the office, Jimmy ran out, printed paper in hand. And the printer continued to work beautifully from then on. I don’t know what Jimmy did to that printer in those few minutes he was alone in the office, but I’m looking forward to a future in which I can send my pint-sized IT reinforcements in to fix all my tech issues!

June 2, 2013, at 9:46 pm | Susie has been repeatedly requesting “breakfast in bed.” Well, I think this is as close as they’re gonna get!

May 30, 2013, at 9:55 pm | Even Danny is getting in on this playdate (or at least, the snack time)!

May 29, 2013, at 9:56 pm | The mall is still an all-time favorite destination around here. Where else can you get tractor rides and cake pops?

May 28, 2013, at 11:14 pm | Last weekend, we had a special visit from some of Jim’s extended family. The kids were so happy to see their “cousins” Chloe and Lauren. So was I, especially since Chloe and Lauren are so good with kids I barely had to do anything for my kids all day!
See? Even Danny was thrilled with our visitors! Here he’s cuddling with Chloe:

He loved looking at Lauren:

While Jimmy hid with Bubba:

And Becky took a leisurely stroll with the big girls:

Big kids are the best!

May 27, 2013, at 10:55 pm | We had a lovely Memorial Day holiday today, making the most of the sunshine since we’ve been drowning in rain the past few days! We started the day off with breakfast on the deck, per the kids’ request (which unfortunately ended in Becky getting an awful splinter from the deck that I couldn’t get out – thankfully our dear friend Carrie came over this evening for dinner and she was able to dig it out while I held Becky still and consoled her. I don’t think I’ve ever had to hold a kid in that much pain before. I felt so bad for sweet Becky, and I was so thankful that Carrie was willing to be the bad guy and inflict the pain that was necessary to help her heal):
Our friends joined us for our first boating outing of the season, and the kids were delighted to get to splash in the (freezing!) water:
Becky and Jimmy air-dried up on top of the tower:
And Becky also enlisted some cuddles to help her warm up:
Susie happily took her first tube ride of the year, and wowed us all with her bravery!
Jimmy also took a long tube ride. We definitely have another “Mable” lover!
Danny hung out with Jim’s mom while we were boating, and then was content to get passed around in the evening. He’s already a ladies’ man!

May 24, 2013, at 9:38 pm | I wish I looked half as cute as Becky in my own hat! 🙂

May 23, 2013, at 9:55 pm | The girls are VERY excited by their new “big kid” water bottles. Now if only they were spill-proof like sippy cups!

ABOUT US I'm blessed to be saved by the grace of God, loved by my wonderful husband Jim, and embraced by my twin girls, Rebecca Faith and Susanna Joy and my sons Jimmy and Danny. I started this blog in May 2008 when I was hospitalized for pre-term labor at 24 weeks gestation. The Lord allowed me to keep the girls inside until they were 34 weeks along, and on July 27th, Rebecca made her debut, followed by Susanna, five minutes later, on July 28th. We ecstatically welcomed Jimmy into our lives on April 25th, 2011, and Danny on August 31, 2012. This blog has been a personal journal of faith and motherhood and the only way I can remember which child did what and when. Thanks for stopping by to share in my Faith and Joy! Feel free to e-mail me at: [email protected].
