Special Outing

Last Saturday, Jim watched the boys so I could take the girls out for our very own “Mommy/Daughter Lunch” at Panera’s Bakery.  The girls were excited about leaving their brothers behind!

Before we left, I had told the girls that since this would be a very special time, I would let them have cookies after lunch. Becky thought for a moment, then replied, “If we’re going to have a special time, then we should have a cookie FIRST!”

I didn’t go quite that far, but I did let them each have their own cookie, and that’s significant considering Panera’s cookies are about the size of one’s head.

See?

So between the company, and the sugar, we had a very special time indeed.

Silly Daddy

Silly Daddy…don’t you know the kids are too big to all fit in your lap at once?

Snowy Observations

1.  Sledding downhill is more fun than trudging back up.

2. There’s just something hilarious about kids lying down in snowsuits.

3.  Slides are even more exciting and slippery in the snow.

4. Kids can peel off layers in 2 seconds that took approximately 20 minutes to put on.

Danny: “Who says you can’t pair stripes with prints?”

Having Fun

I don’t know what the girls are doing here, but I know they’re having fun doing it!

Ballerina Becky

Becky wanted to look like a ballerina, so she had the idea to fashion a hair accessory out of a Barbie skirt.

We were both pleased with the results!

And So It Begins…

I still can’t believe I have TWO sons.

And I can’t believe they’re already annoying each other!

Jimmy’s favorite thing to do in the car is scream as soon as Danny quiets down so that Danny starts wailing again.  Once Danny calms himself, Jimmy screams yet again.  And the pattern continues.

And when we’re home, if Danny’s arm or leg accidentally brushes – ever so lightly – Jimmy’s body, Jimmy gets an incredibly offended, pained look on his face.  Then he points to the part of his body that was touched and whimpers pitifully as if Danny had just karate-chopped him.

Oh brother!

Not What I Had in Mind

While reading a book with the girls about Snow White, I pointed out how nice it was of the princess to help the dwarfs clean up their cottage.  I wanted to motivate the girls to help me more around the house, so I pointed to a picture of Snow White making the dwarfs’ beds, and I said, “We should do that!”

Becky looked at the picture, and then suggested, “Maybe Bubba can do that, so we won’t have to work anymore!”

I’ll have to tell Bubba (my mother-in-law) that all her helping out around our house is giving my lazy little dwarfs the wrong idea!

He’s Lucky it’s not a Tiara

If you look very closely in the picture below, you’ll see that Danny is wearing a purple floral headband.

Danny, let’s hope you learn to talk soon so you can tell your sisters to keep their accessories to themselves!

First Cereal

Danny had his first taste of solid food yesterday and he took it well!  His siblings were a very boisterous cheering section.  When I told Jimmy we were giving his little brother some cereal, Jimmy promptly ran to the cupboard, grabbed a box of Honey Bunches of Oats, and placed it on the counter.  I don’t know if it was supposed to be for him or Danny, but it made me laugh!
