Boston Bound

It’s not often that I get to spend a whole day with two lovely ladies who don’t call me “Mama”!  On Saturday, I had the wonderful privilege of driving with my niece Alli to visit our friend Ashley in “Beantown” (and thanks to Ashley’s tourguide-esque knowledge of her adopted hometown, I now know the history behind the “bean” reference!).  The three of us popped in and out of shops in the Back Bay, trooped all over the North End, took in the street performers at Quincy Market, and just enjoyed the breathtaking scenery and each other’s company.  I can’t thank Ashley enough for her hospitality, or Alli for enduring my hungry-for-adult-conversation nonstop yapping during the road trip.  When we returned home after 9pm that night, my mother-in-law (who graciously watched all the kids for me) remarked that I looked more rested after a day of walking and driving than I ever do after a day with the kids!

Of One Mind

Susie and I agree…

…there’s nothing like sitting outside in the sunshine with a notebook and your own thoughts!

Happy Fourth!

We didn’t get to see any fireworks this 4th of July, but we packed enough food, watersports, games and friends into the day to fully celebrate the holiday!

Lazy Days

Free Wheeling

We made it out to the bike trail again on Sunday and let the girls take their “motorcycles” out with us.

They usually propel the trikes with their feet, as opposed to the pedals, but they manage to keep up with their daddy!

Jimmy doesn’t get to set his own pace yet, poor kid.  Although I don’t have too much sympathy for him…I would much rather be pushed around on wheels these days!

Hooray for a great evening out!

Lovin’ It

The girls have discovered a new-found love of swimming with the help of their life jackets.

Jimmy has re-discovered his love of boating with the help of his Pappy!

Strolling in Style

I think Jimmy’s been hanging around his sisters too much – he’s trying to wear this stroller as a purse!

Cute Kids

We made several attempts to get a good family photo of the kids, Jim and me while at the shore, but I’m not sure we succeeded (I still have to examine my brother-in-law’s shots).  However, in our frenzied photo taking, we did get some really cute ones of the kids!

Along for the Ride

In addition to our daily trek to the beach, we also visited the boardwalk amusement park every evening.  I knew the girls liked rides, but I had no idea that our Becky was a daredevil.  That child gleefully rode every grown-up ride her father would take her on, including a massive swinging pirate ship and an up-and-down, forward-and-backward ride that produced such significant G-forces that Jim always emerged looking a little green.  And then she’d want to ride it again!  Susie did very well on the moderate rides (she quickly declined any activity that involved excessive speed), and Jimmy was enthralled with his first ride on the carousel.  I don’t think it will be long before he’ll be joining Becky on that pirate ship!
