Sit and Be Fit

Hopefully, the Nintendo Wii Fit will instill in Susanna a lifelong love of fitness…

…not video games.

Well, at least I can rest assured that exercising in her daddy’s arms won’t burn many calories.  We want her rolls to stick around for a little while!

Happy Valentine’s Day

We’re back from a wonderful Florida vacation, and I’ll post  more pictures soon.  Here’s one of the girls showing their love for one another on Valentine’s Day (and wearing their Valentine’s sleepers from their Grammie, of course!).

Literary Ladybugs

Susanna (on right) can’t believe her sister is already reading.  Rebecca also looks a bit surprised at her literary prowess.

The girls thought this book was a real page-turner.

Susanna tries to squash the ladybugs before they can fly away.

Feeding Frenzy

Yesterday, we attempted our first feeding of rice cereal.  It received mixed reviews.

Rebecca thought it tasted funny…

…and she wasn’t thrilled with the consistency.

Susanna, on the other hand, became very animated and wanted to help me with the spoon.

She considered herself quite grown-up, now that she’s eating solid foods.

Jelly Bellies

What’s cuter than a baby bum?  A baby belly – or rather, two baby bellies – of course!

Go Steelers!

The girls enjoyed the few minutes of the Super Bowl they were allowed to watch tonight.  But even their rapt attention paled in comparison to their daddy’s state of enthrallment.  Jim, a Pittsburgh native, will sleep like a baby tonight.  Let’s just hope the girls do, too!

Music to my Ears

The girls and I took a little road trip to my friend Maria’s house today.  The girls were very content during the car ride, with one small exception.  As usual, I passed the time by listening to my beloved Southern Gospel radio station (XM channel 34 for anyone interested!).  The girls apparently enjoyed the music just as much as I did, judging by the silence in the backseat.  After a while, I decided I needed a change of pace, so I flipped over to another radio station.  A politician-who-shall-remain-nameless-for-the-sake-of-extended-family-unity was speaking, and I lingered on the station to listen to his address.  About a minute into the speech, I heard Rebecca start to whimper.  I figured she would calm herself down, and I simply increased the volume.  However, Rebecca similarly increased her volume.  I couldn’t hear the speaker over her cries, so I gave up and changed the channel back to the Southern Gospel station.  The moment I hit the button, she grew quiet, and remained so for the duration of the trip.  I am left to conclude that Rebecca has either inherited her mommy’s love of soothing music or her daddy’s vociferous irritation with certain political platforms.  For the sake of family gatherings, I hope it is the former.  Music offers much more peaceable table-talk than politics.

Watch Cat

Tommy, the girls’ “furry brother,” was the only one who obeyed my request to look at the camera.  The girls were too absorbed in their playtime.  I think Tommy was hoping his obedience would be rewarded by a treat.  It won’t be long before the girls will be equally receptive to bribery!

Susanna appears to be pondering the question…

Six Months Old

Our girls are six months old already!  It is difficult to grasp that Rebecca and Susanna are halfway through their first year of life.  I remember counting their gestational age while I was in the hospital, celebrating each passing week as evidence of the Lord’s faithfulness in continuing their development.  Now, I’m counting in months.  And it won’t be too long, Lord willing, before the months fade into years.  And then I’ll have to start figuring out how to celebrate both of their birthdays without losing their individuality or my sanity!

Here’s Susanna rejoicing at reaching her half-year mark:
