January 30, 2017, at 10:36 pm | Here are the last of the wonderful pictures of our wonderful time with Grandpa! We packed every last minute full of family time!
Here’s Baby T joining in the Grandpa playground (she LOVED him!):

Grandpa suggested we take the kids bowling, which was a huge hit! He took the time to coach each kid individually, and it paid off – this was their best bowling experience yet!

The winner! Jimmy!

Grandpa also decided to do a mini science experiment/recipe with the kids – homemade ice cream in a bag! And even though the ice cream didn’t end up being edible (too salty!), the kids had a blast!

(Becky’s making a pitiful face because she was sad that Grandpa was leaving for the airport)

We loved our time with you, Grandpa, and can’t wait until you and Grammie come back together very soon!

January 29, 2017, at 10:09 pm | We had to drive my dad to the airport today. The week went by far too quickly! We packed so much into our time together, though, so we have plenty of memories to cherish!
Here is Danny sporting his new clothes that Grammie sent with Grandpa:

And the girls were just as excited about their new outfits (with matching doll clothes)! Thanks, Grammie!

Grandpa continued to do SO many long-awaited projects for us, including hanging these pieces of artwork I’ve had for at least a year! He did such a great job!

Much to my delight, Grandpa continued the family tradition of learning ping-pong at a young age. The kids were excited to have such an experienced teacher!

And he’s also an experienced card player – Go fish!!

The rest of the pictures from his visit to come!

January 26, 2017, at 10:40 pm | Hooray! Grandpa is here visiting!!
Baby T is just as excited to see Grandpa as the big kids!
We’re putting him to work with all sorts of stuff around here. He’s already replaced a bathroom vanity (and given the box to the kids for a new toy – there’s a little brother getting tipped over inside the box in this pic):

He’s helped with math homework (oh, this brings back memories of him helping me night after night with my math homework. He was sooo patient!):

He’s playing board games:

He’s assembling catapults:

And he’s building playroom cabinets and making sure Jimmy doesn’t cut off any fingers:

But don’t worry – we’re not wearing him out too much. We let him sit down occasionally and watch basketball – with accompaniment, of course! Here’s to the next generation of Golden State Warriors fans!

January 23, 2017, at 10:38 pm | Well I guess it’s about time that I posted our Christmas pictures! We spent Christmas Eve visiting Jim’s dad in the hospital while he was recovering from a procedure. The kids thought it was pretty cool to be there, and were very excited by the gifts they received from their Aunt Mary and Uncle Jeff!
We got home and Jim read the Night Before Christmas to the kids by candlelight:
And then I finished wrapping the loot after the kids were tucked in. No peeking, Baby T!

The next day, we opened our stockings before church.

Then after church, we opened the rest of the gifts and had a ham dinner. There were smiles all around!

Nothing like table paper rolls from a doctor’s office to get your creative juices flowing! Thanks for the extra paper, Bubba!
January 18, 2017, at 10:11 pm | Jim is an awesome dad, and one of my favorite things about his parenting is how effortlessly he includes the kids in his weekend tasks. He’s always asking the kids to come along on his trips to Home Depot or join him on the lawn mower/snow blower. I’m so glad his approach enables the kids to absorb his extensive knowledge about cars, home improvement, dirt bike riding, etc. Here’s a picture of Jim teaching Danny the ins and outs of washing machine repair. So thankful for both Jim’s expertise and the kids’ willingness to learn!

January 15, 2017, at 10:14 pm | I couldn’t find Jimmy for about 10 minutes on Friday. I frantically asked the girls to search the house again while I ran outside to keep calling his name. I finally found him behind the shed, trying to saw down trees or something like that. He’s always supposed to ask me first before going outside, but he didn’t this time. Anyway, when I dragged him back in, the girls met us at the door and said, "Jimmy! You scared us! We looked everywhere for you – even inside all the toilets!"
*******
Danny: “On a scale of 1-10, how awesome am I??”
*******
Danny, trying on his new shirt: “I hope I can wear this shirt for ever and ever, all the way to heaven so God can see this awesome shirt.”
*******
Jim, leading the children’s meeting at church: “Does anybody have a Bible with them?”
Jimmy loudly announced: “Yes, there’s one beside me, but it’s useless because I can’t read.”
*******
(This one’s not quite a quote but it cracks me up all the same…)
When I asked Jimmy to pack his backpack for an airplane flight, I expected him to include some paper, crayons and toys. Instead, he packed only the following items: Two large WWII textbooks, a safe, and a crossbow.
********
Becky: “When I imagine what the Garden of Eden would have been like, I imagine it was always beautiful with sunny skies.”
Susie: “I imagine it with roller coasters.”
January 13, 2017, at 9:08 pm | With only a few accessories from our basement, Becky was able to transform herself into a rockstar:

and then a tech-savvy teen!

January 12, 2017, at 9:45 pm | The girls had a great musical production at school, featuring classic 50’s rock and roll. They were so cute up on stage! Susie was a presenter, and Becky was a dancer. Way to go, girls!

ABOUT US I'm blessed to be saved by the grace of God, loved by my wonderful husband Jim, and embraced by my twin girls, Rebecca Faith and Susanna Joy and my sons Jimmy and Danny. I started this blog in May 2008 when I was hospitalized for pre-term labor at 24 weeks gestation. The Lord allowed me to keep the girls inside until they were 34 weeks along, and on July 27th, Rebecca made her debut, followed by Susanna, five minutes later, on July 28th. We ecstatically welcomed Jimmy into our lives on April 25th, 2011, and Danny on August 31, 2012. This blog has been a personal journal of faith and motherhood and the only way I can remember which child did what and when. Thanks for stopping by to share in my Faith and Joy! Feel free to e-mail me at: [email protected].
