I found this note when I was cleaning out the girls’ church meeting bag. It was written by Susie – the enthusiastic evangelist! She makes a mama proud!
“When you’re all done there is still somebody sitting next to you. It’s Jesus. He’s our Savior. We need to trust in him. We want to go to Heaven. Not Hell. We want to be a Christian because we are sinners. Because we are sinners all of us. This is true. Please join me now! Join me. Join me now, now.” Jimmy recently went to his first “friend” birthday party, featuring a wonderful collection of wild animals – including a blue-tongued skink. Can’t say I had ever seen one of those before! I think I enjoyed it as much as he did (although he definitely enjoyed the cake more, as was evidenced by the remnants all over his face)!
Who can carry four rowdy children all at once (not to mention a Storm Trooper?) – Chris can!
Jimmy to me, when I was keeping him company on a trip to the potty: “Can you stop talking? I like it to be calm and peaceful and quiet in bathrooms.” ******* Danny was playing with a Spider Man toy, and he told me that Spider Man was shooting a bad guy with a gun – only, he pronounced gun as “dun” since he has a hard time with the “g” sound. Me: “Say g-g-gun” Danny pointed to the superhero, whose whole face was covered with a mask: “He can’t say ‘d-d-dun’ – He has no mouth.” ******* Jimmy told a very dramatic story to his dad, and then his dad skeptically asked: “Jimmy, is this true?” Jimmy nodded his head earnestly and avowed, “It’s NON-fiction!!” ******* Jimmy: “Can I have an axe?” Me: “No.” Jimmy: “Well, can I have something LIKE an axe?” ******* I was talking with a friend about Jimmy’s sleep schedule and I said: "No, he doesn’t usually take naps. He’s getting too old." Jimmy overheard and interjected: "I’m not old!! I don’t have white hair!" ******* Jimmy to Danny, pointing toward the bottle of steak sauce on the table: “Do you want A1?” Danny: “No, I want A2.” Jim’s sister got Jimmy this great watch for Christmas – it takes pictures and videos, and Jimmy’s also using it to learn time. He LOVES this watch. He dutifully charges it almost every night so he’s never without it during the day. Here he is showing the girls a video he took of a movie on TV he had been watching the day before. They were very impressed! What happens when your four kids decide to play Woodland Creatures for an entire Saturday morning? Well, your family room may turn into a network of tunnel and burrows and dens and…I think there was a jail cell in there somewhere too. I guess our squirrels were feeling a bit feisty!
A few weeks ago, Becky, Susie and Danny decided to spend the night at their grandparents’ house, while Jimmy opted for a special Daddy/Mommy/Son night. He LOVED it! Jimmy watched football all evening with his dad, and he was thrilled to get to order in pizza for their time together. He rarely gets to spend any time alone with us, so it was a treat for us all! Well, the snow last week that brought many more Southern states their knees only brought my kids to their ankles in snow! We hardly got any snow during that storm (this winter continues to be abnormally – and wonderfully – mild for us), but that didn’t stop the kids and Jim from having a blast in the back yard.
