Our cruise vacation got off to an unexpected start when Jimmy, then me, then Becky, then Susie, then Jim all came down with a 24-hour stomach virus as soon as we hit the open water. I was actually relieved when I realized we were suffering from an illness, and not just really seasick and doomed to feel like this for the next week. The ship’s doctor quarantined us to our room, so with our staggered symptoms, we ended up being stuck from Sunday night through Tuesday night in a small space, but as Jim rightly put it, “There are worse things than being stuck in an ocean-front jail cell!” So while we were feeling like this:

We were looking out at this, which somehow made it much better (and it didn’t hurt that we had an attendant repeatedly changing the ruined sheets and towels for us!):

We ended up having to miss the first port, Cococay in the Bahamas (all except for Susie, who joined my parents on shore since we didn’t know she was sick yet), so we missed the beautiful beach there, but once we were finally out of quarantine, we got to explore the beautiful boat!

This picture below was actually taken a few hours before we got sick, so you can see my mom and the girls featured on the big screen as their departure dancing was filmed!

I am looking forward to seeing more cruise adventure photos. Sorry your trip got off to a rocky start but it sounds like it finished well.
