So Jimmy is three years old now. Which on one hand, sounds so old…and on the other hand, I feel like he’s already five old because he keeps up with his big sisters so well. He talks CONSTANTLY (although not super articulately – the trick to understanding him is to realize that very few of his beginning consonants are correct. For instance, he says “bong” for “song” and “bone” for “phone,” “bink” for “think,” and he has an adorable lisp). He’s very cuddly and affectionate, which is surprising because he was not that way as an infant – he was so wiggly and strong. He’s still wiggly and strong, but he gladly comes over for kisses and hugs. He loves to sit in my lap and have me read to him for as long as I’m able, but he will not look at a book without someone reading it to him. He has no desire just to look at pictures! He has an impish gleam in his eye and a sense of humor that cracks me up every day. He’s insanely optimistic, except when it comes to cleaning up his self-made messes. Then he looks at all the spilled toys or cheerios or milk and mournfully says, “It’s gonna take a yong, yong, time to keen” (“It’s gonna take a long, long time to clean). He’s incredibly coordinated, and is already learning to pedal his sister’s bike with training wheels, and can scooter very well. He loves construction equipment, motorycles, cars, ATVs, snowmobiles, anything with a loud engine. He loves to help me prepare meals, and he loves to help me clean as long as it involves a tool, like a spray bottle or vaccuum or mop. His favorite TV show right now is Octonauts, and his favorite movie is either Frozen or Despicable Me. He’s potty trained during the day, all on his own. He loves being around his big sisters (and more and more, his little brother). He thinks his dad, Pappy and Grampa all hung the moon. He is a slobbery, giggly ball of good-natured energy. He sleeps well, eats well, plays well, and is just generally a joy to be around. I can’t get enough of that kid!
Here’s Jimmy getting woken up on his birthday by Susie, who made him this card (“Happy Birthday Jimmy – You are the sweetest kid in the world.”):

We love you, Jimmy!!
