June 23, 2014, at 11:43 pm | The girls had wacky hair day at school a while back. Little did they realize that every day is wacky hair day around here since I’m lousy at braids and ponytails! But for this day, I revved it up a bit and, per their request, gave Susie four braids and Becky pigtails plus a braid. Very wacky indeed!

June 19, 2014, at 10:24 pm | The construction vehicles and workers involved in our landscaping project have been the best babysitters – the boys can watch them forever! As much as I would like the project done, I’ll be sad to lose the entertainment for the boys (although I guess these guys aren’t exactly cheap childcare!).

June 17, 2014, at 8:54 pm | Aunt Angie – can you tell what photo from our childhood I was trying to recreate? It’s a work in progress. I’ll let you know what I get it just right!

June 16, 2014, at 10:11 pm | The last few trips we’ve taken, the girls have been asked to complete a “travel journal” to document their adventures. I was looking at the one they did after our Arizona trip, and I got a kick out of seeing what parts of the trip made the cut. It was a fun insight into their little minds! Note to self – kids don’t need expensive outings, just the great outdoors, sweets and friends!
Here’s Becky’s version of our trip:
“We went to a bouncy house slide.” (The girl is saying “AAA, this is fun!”)

“We went to a train museum.”

“We went in the hot tub.”

“We had ice cream.”

“We got M&Ms”

“We went swimming.”

“We got donuts.”

“We went for a walk.”

“Jon gave me a blue rock.” (Becky is saying, ‘Thank you,’ and Jon replies ‘You’re welcome.’”).

June 15, 2014, at 9:15 pm | Last week, we took our first family trip of the season to the bike trail. It was also the first time we’ve had four children mobile on the path, without the use of a stroller!

I’m glad there’s a little lady who’s ready to assume my driving responsibilities! Meet Penny, our future captain!

June 13, 2014, at 10:30 pm | Jimmy, pointing to a bird flying overhead: “Look, it’s a mohawk!”
*******
Jimmy was poking at a worm in the dirt, and then I heard him say: “I broke him.”
Me: “That’s too bad, bud. You need to be careful with animals. Tell him you’re sorry.”
Jimmy: “Worms don’t say, ‘I forgive you.’”
*******
I warned Becky not to come into the bathroom after her brother had a particularly smelly visit, but Becky insisted, “Don’t worry. I put my nose in the not-smelling version.”
*******
Susie: “When I was little, I would always swallow my gum. But I don’t do that anymore.”
Me: “Your brother always swallows his gum too.”
Susie: “I guess little kids’ mouths are slipperier.”

ABOUT US I'm blessed to be saved by the grace of God, loved by my wonderful husband Jim, and embraced by my twin girls, Rebecca Faith and Susanna Joy and my sons Jimmy and Danny. I started this blog in May 2008 when I was hospitalized for pre-term labor at 24 weeks gestation. The Lord allowed me to keep the girls inside until they were 34 weeks along, and on July 27th, Rebecca made her debut, followed by Susanna, five minutes later, on July 28th. We ecstatically welcomed Jimmy into our lives on April 25th, 2011, and Danny on August 31, 2012. This blog has been a personal journal of faith and motherhood and the only way I can remember which child did what and when. Thanks for stopping by to share in my Faith and Joy! Feel free to e-mail me at: [email protected].
