May 19, 2011, at 11:18 pm | All I can say is…

…I hope baby Jimmy doesn’t grow up to be as fearless as our friend Uriah.

And for interested parties, yes, Uriah was tied off while he was on our roof. But whether the rope would have provided more than just emotional reassurance, you can be the judge.
Here’s what he was tied off to:
Jim’s toys come through once again!
P.S. Many thanks to Uriah for cleaning our gutters at the risk of his own life and limb.
P.P.S. Even more thanks to his wife Ashley (a.k.a. Nerves-of-Steel) who let us send her husband onto our roof while tied to a tractor.
May 18, 2011, at 9:50 pm | The girls loved their bouncy seats when they were little, and it seems to run in the family!

May 17, 2011, at 10:50 pm | We recently decided to get a swing set for our backyard so the girls could have a something to entertain them outdoors on the days when I couldn’t manage to get three kids out of the house and to the local park. We bought a ready-to-assemble kit that came in several enormous boxes and contained elaborate instructions. My husband and father-in-law have started the construction process, and while the whole thing looks like an unsolvable jigsaw puzzle to me, the girls are undaunted by its complexity. They pitch in at every opportunity, and provide comic relief for Jim and his dad as they labor away. I hope the girls always take such pleasure in working with their hands.

May 16, 2011, at 11:06 pm | Jimmy received his first visitors to our home the last few days. Our neighbors were sweet enough to bring over a gift for Jimmy and bags full of goodies to entertain the girls. They were so thoughtful!

And our friends Ashley and Uriah came over for a quick visit on Sunday.

They also came bearing gifts – one that left Jim tickled pink…or should I say, tickled “black and yellow”!

May 14, 2011, at 10:39 pm | We had to take Grammie back to the airport today. I already miss her terribly.

I can’t thank you enough, Mom. For everything.

May you always have someone with whom you can share your chocolate milk!
May 12, 2011, at 10:46 pm | In the last few weeks, the girls’ artwork has gotten markedly better. When they draw people, they’re starting to make discernable heads, eyes, legs and arms. These body parts aren’t necessarily in the correct location and they certainly aren’t proportional, but nonetheless I’m excited at their progression.

May 11, 2011, at 10:06 pm | We went to visit Jim’s Nana on Mother’s Day to introduce her to her newest great-grandchild.

It was a bittersweet moment, since her dementia prevented her from knowing who it was she was meeting. She would have been so pleased to know that her husband’s name is living on to the fourth generation.
Here she is with James Jr., James III and now James IV:

She may not have known his name…but I think she felt his love.

Fill your cart with so many kids that you don’t have any space for groceries:

You can see that we definitely don’t have room for giant teddy bears!

Jimmy: “Mom, didn’t you say these tub baths are supposed to be fun?”

“I’m not having any fun!”

“Is it over? Can I open my eyes?”

“Oh dear. I hope this bathing thing gets easier.”

ABOUT US I'm blessed to be saved by the grace of God, loved by my wonderful husband Jim, and embraced by my twin girls, Rebecca Faith and Susanna Joy and my sons Jimmy and Danny. I started this blog in May 2008 when I was hospitalized for pre-term labor at 24 weeks gestation. The Lord allowed me to keep the girls inside until they were 34 weeks along, and on July 27th, Rebecca made her debut, followed by Susanna, five minutes later, on July 28th. We ecstatically welcomed Jimmy into our lives on April 25th, 2011, and Danny on August 31, 2012. This blog has been a personal journal of faith and motherhood and the only way I can remember which child did what and when. Thanks for stopping by to share in my Faith and Joy! Feel free to e-mail me at: [email protected].
