Love is in the Air

We had quite the love fest this Valentine’s Day!

We loved the Edible Arrangement our friend Connie sent for our consumption and viewing pleasure:

We loved the pink sparkly shoes from Grammie:

We loved our time at the community playgroup this morning:

We loved reading the original potty book from my childhood, thanks to my Grandma:

We loved the fuzzy stuffed animals that Daddy brought home:

And we ESPECIALLY loved all the time with Grammie and Grandpa!

(And you can see we’re still loving the sunglasses!)

We hope your Valentine’s Day was full of love!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

You are My Sunshine

I hope your day is so full of sunshine (literal or metaphorical) that it requires the non-stop wearing of sunglasses!

Welcome Back, Grammie!

Like Father

I was wracking my brain this evening trying to come up with fodder for a blog post, but I kept coming up empty.  That is, until a dear family friend sent me an e-mail with this picture attached, and I knew I had to share it with you all.  It’s a photo of my husband Jim when he was a toddler.  Don’t you think Becky looks just like him?

I can’t thank our friend Holly enough for taking the time to send this to me.  It made my night!

Housemates

Even though our cat, Tommy, is declawed, I don’t let the girls interact with him much.  He is more house mouser than house pet, and I worry that his wild streak will lead him to believe that the girls are large rodents (they do scurry and squeak an awful lot).  But the girls still manage to find ways to play with their beloved Tommy, like taunting him through a closed door.

See him saying “hi” under the door?

I wish I could trust Tommy to be nice to the girls, and I wish I could trust the girls to be nice to Tommy.  But I think this will be the extent of their interactions for a while…until the girls become a bit more responsible, I become more relaxed, or the cat becomes toothless and senile – whichever comes first.

Literary Inspiration

I took the girls to the library today to check out a few books.

Anyone detect a theme?

Hot Head

The girls must think we live in the Alaskan wilderness due to all the snow in the ground.  At least, that’s my explanation for Becky’s latest choice in hats.

Moose skin cap, anyone?

Fun and Games

Well, the mood in our household is a bit dejected due to the Steelers’ heartbreaking loss tonight to the Green Bay Packers, but we won’t let that dampen our joy at the wonderful weekend we were able to spend with our friends (and we still gladly call them friends, despite the fact that they attempted to brainwash our children into shouting “Go Pack Go!” and “Big Ben Stinks” during the Super Bowl).

We filled the weekend with lots of hard work:

But we made sure to reward our hard-working friends with leisure time:

And cuddle time:

And plenty of food:

See my attempt at football brownies?

So even if Jim’s diehard black-and-yellow blood prevents him from fully agreeing with me, I’d say this was a winner of a weekend!

Worth Trying

I’ve heard of a diet where you eat only what you can pick up with chopsticks.  But this one is new to me:

Maybe Susie is trying to invent the multi-utensil diet, where you eat only what can be picked up simultaneously by four spoons and a fork?

Dance Team

Nothing beats a spontaneous “Ring around the Rosie” session!

P.S.  Can you tell Susie is fond of winter clothing?  The child is never happier than when wearing a hat, coat and boots!
