Creative Kids

One thing I can never accuse of my kids of is lack of creativity.  These kids – especially the girls – continually astound me with their imaginative play.  The girls recently had a dear friend over, and the girls quickly whipped up a formal tea party (including a guest robot that they built from scratch):

And after playing with nearly every toy in the basement, they finished off their time together with an in-home spa, featuring a Greek yogurt/honey mask!  I love these kiddos and their crazy ideas!

Before School Smiles

I continued to be amazed with how well Jimmy has taken to Kindergarten.  He loves every part of it, and gets on the bus each morning with a smile and a wave.  He’s starting to sound out words when he writes (he even wrote me an unprompted note the other day, and I could READ it!!), he’s enjoying playing with kids at recess, and his shaky penmanship is getting better and better.  He’s even expertly navigating some tricky waters – case in point: An older kid on the bus accused Jimmy and some other Kindergarten boys of being “dumb” when the boys admitted they didn’t know the answer to a 100 + 100.  Jimmy quickly retorted, “Well, do you know John 3:16?” And when the child said no, Jimmy quoted it in full.  So even though I’m not sure Jimmy’s heart was in the right place (since I think he was just subtly implying the other kid was “dumb” too!), I was proud he was thinking on his feet, and that his first thoughts were of Scripture!

Thumbs Up

I loved Danny’s expression after his first-ever taste of an ice cream float!

The Fantastic Four

Even though this isn’t a clear picture, I wanted to document how awesome it is to have all four kids playing together in the evenings on the trampoline.  Now that the weather is too cold for the pool, I’m so glad they have the trampoline on which to expend their evening energy – and I’m even more glad they can do it together!  It’s balm to this mama’s heart every time I see them playing like a team!

Sunday School Picnic

The kids and I were thrilled we got to attend a church Sunday School picnic a few weeks ago.  We look forward to it all year!  The message was amazing, as were the games, crafts, and prizes (I mean, how often can a kid win a container of lollipops half as big as he is?!).  Can’t wait until next year!

Labor Day with Friends

We were excited that our friends Ashley and Uriah were able to join us for boating over the Labor Day weekend.  Their kids are growing up so fast!  Here are the boys trying to fix the toy Jeep together:

And here are the boys who refuse to grow up, ha!
