What do you get when you cross a curious kid with some garage shelves? An avalanche! At least he hung on to the “four-wheeler” he had been reaching for! I think I must be feeding this kid too many vitamins or something…I mean, what other explanation is there for my seven-year-old daughter suddenly looking more like she’s a young lady, not a little girl?
This was her less than a year ago, having just lost her two front teeth. What a difference a year makes! I think I’m going to have to stop giving her vitamins. A few days after his third birthday, Danny learned how to ride a two-wheel bike…with NO TRAINING WHEELS. The kid is amazing! We’re so proud of him! We give all the credit to his beloved “glider bike” – it definitely taught him how to balance early on. Now Danny keeps up with the rest of the kids, and he’s even already trying to do tricks. Now we just need to get him to learn how to use the bike’s brakes; he still slows himself down by dragging his toes – we’re wearing out shoes like crazy! He’s gotten even better since this video of his first moments riding. He’s probably already better than me! After recently seeing his dad crawl underneath a vehicle to fix it, Jimmy has become obsessed with wanting to check the undercarriage of our SUV to make sure it’s in proper working condition. I decided to humor him, and he promptly grabbed a dolly on which to roll himself under, and a headlamp for visibility. Oh, and he took my camera to document his findings. Jimmy concluded everything was working well. Maybe we should have him do our next oil change! We attended a church Sunday School picnic a few weeks back, and the kids loved every single game and craft (and the biggest kid of all, my husband, had a great time playing kickball in the field with friends!). The little kids had an exceptionally good time at one activity in particular – dinosaur hunting. I couldn’t tear the boys away from it! The leader had hidden little plastic dinosaurs in hard clay that the boys got to hammer away at with awls. I don’t know which they loved more – wearing the protective goggles, or getting to hack at something with a sharp object! It was awesome! This is a long video, but I love every minute of it. Here’s Susie explaining her self-created “life plan,” including some pretty serious economic theories about buying and selling. We’re so proud of our little entrepreneur! I can never get enough pictures of these kiddos sleeping! They melt my heart.
