February 28, 2009, at 11:51 pm | Jim and I were relieved tonight that the girls behaved themselves when we went out to Jim’s favorite restaurant, Chili’s. The last time we went there, the girls inexplicably developed sudden-onset stranger anxiety which caused them to cry through the entire meal. Tonight, despite a few squawks here and there, they mostly contented themselves by playing with the ketchup bottle and grabbing the handles to our water glasses. Our friend Carrie was a wonderful help and kept Rebecca entertained by producing new and exciting objects for her to grasp, including allowing her camera case to be used as a teething ring. I don’t expect dining out to ever be uneventful again, and I imagine we will be restricting our family outings to noisy establishments like Chili’s (much to Jim’s relief, I’m sure!). Even when the girls fussed, one could barely discern their cries above the sizzle of fajitas and peals of laughter from the merry revelers at nearby tables. Thanks to the girls good behavior and the general chaos all around, I don’t think we disturbed too many other patrons. In fact, I think the parents at the table next to us were happy to have their kids distracted by our kids!
Here are the girls in their going-to-Chili’s outfits:
Here is Rebecca sharing her father’s joy at the impending outing to Chili’s:
I think the girls will be happy when they can partake of the Chili’s kids’ menu and not be forced to eat carrots:
February 26, 2009, at 11:10 pm | The girls bid a tearful goodbye to their beloved Grammie today…well, their tears may have been more due to fussiness than farewells. My tears, though, were shed because I hated to see my mom fly back to California. We had such a wonderful week together. Here’s a photo of my mom and her not-so-tearful granddaughters. They were just excited to be in her arms!
February 25, 2009, at 10:54 pm | Our girls are so blessed by having four wonderful, loving grandparents. Here are a few pictures of the grandparents entertaining the girls (or is the other way around?). We wish my dad could have been with us tonight – I’m sure he was sending his love from across the seas!
February 24, 2009, at 11:00 pm | Don’t the girls look so grown-up in their high chairs? They’re transitioning to solid foods very well. We’ve mastered single grain rice cereal, and now we’re onto oatmeal. We’ll see how they handle veggies next. If they take after their mom, they won’t be too crazy about the upcoming carrots and squash!
February 23, 2009, at 11:18 pm | I don’t know who had more fun with bath time today. From start to finish, we were all smiles!
Before…
During…
After…
Susanna was so pleased with the day that she even blessed me with goodnight kisses! It was the cutest thing ever – over and over, she pressed her little mouth into my cheek. Who knows, maybe she was actually trying to lick some food off my face, but I prefer to think she was being affectionate!

February 20, 2009, at 11:50 pm | My mom arrived yesterday, much to the girls delight, and my relief. It’s wonderful to have her here, both for her moral support and extra (very willing) arms. She even baby-sat tonight so Jim and I could get out for a dinner date. I don’t know who’s happier to have her here: the girls, because she’s eager to play and cuddle with them; me, because I can hand a fussy kid off to her at any time; or Jim, because a happy wife is a happy life!

February 17, 2009, at 12:30 am | Hopefully, the Nintendo Wii Fit will instill in Susanna a lifelong love of fitness…
…not video games.
Well, at least I can rest assured that exercising in her daddy’s arms won’t burn many calories. We want her rolls to stick around for a little while!

ABOUT US I'm blessed to be saved by the grace of God, loved by my wonderful husband Jim, and embraced by my twin girls, Rebecca Faith and Susanna Joy and my sons Jimmy and Danny. I started this blog in May 2008 when I was hospitalized for pre-term labor at 24 weeks gestation. The Lord allowed me to keep the girls inside until they were 34 weeks along, and on July 27th, Rebecca made her debut, followed by Susanna, five minutes later, on July 28th. We ecstatically welcomed Jimmy into our lives on April 25th, 2011, and Danny on August 31, 2012. This blog has been a personal journal of faith and motherhood and the only way I can remember which child did what and when. Thanks for stopping by to share in my Faith and Joy! Feel free to e-mail me at: [email protected].
