Conquerors

First, Susie conquered her fear of the biggest slide at the park:

Next, Becky conquered her fear of the biggest slide at the park:

Finally, Jimmy just stared, slack-jawed, at the smallest slide at the park:

Friend or Food?

While we were in New Hampshire this weekend,  Jimmy was less interested in the snow and more interested in hanging out with his new little friend, Ellee.

Or more specifically, he was more interested in hanging out with Ellee’s food.

The White Stuff

I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I was so happy to see snow this weekend!  We packed up the gang and met some dear friends in Northern New Hampshire for a wonderful weekend of snowmobiling.  While we were up there, a storm blew in and brought another 10 inches of snow, which was a much-needed addition to the trails.  The kids and I mostly stayed in the cabin, but we did venture out for some good old-fashioned playtime.  It’s so hard to believe we had to travel nearly up to the Canadian border before we had enough snow this winter in which to make snow angels!

The girls really enjoyed the white stuff, and honestly, I did too.  It was especially fun to have a lot of snow around, but know that we would be leaving the accompanying mess and snow-related hassles behind as soon as we were done.  It made snow exciting for me again, not burdensome!

Of course, chances are that our next winter will wallop us with heavy snow, so I guess I shouldn’t get too attached to this snow-as-fleeting-fun model.  Besides, maybe if we get lots of storms, I’ll get to see lots of these smiles!

(And yes, Becky did ride the snowmobile with her dad for a few minutes.  And yes, she IS smiling about it!).

Becky’s First Haircut

A year after her sister’s first trip, it was finally Becky’s turn to visit the hair salon!

(It’s okay if you can’t tell much difference after the cut – I couldn’t either!  This one was more like a warm-up!)

Grammie’s Boy

Before Jimmy was born, my mom frequently told me that she wouldn’t know what to do with a boy (she had two girls, and I had only given her granddaughters).  But she needn’t have worried – she’s a natural with him!

Gotta Love

Jim is thankfully illness-free thus far, and he’s even been so bold as to cuddle quite close with the kids.  You gotta love a guy who’s willing to risk a potential stomach bug for the sake of his children!

Buggy

What a crazy few days!  As we were wrapping up our wonderful visit with my mom this weekend, a stomach bug hit the house and felled Jimmy, then my mom, then Susie, then Becky, then me, all in the course of 24 hours.  Thankfully it was a mild illness (well, for everyone but my poor mom who had to travel home), but I’ll certainly be glad when everyone gets back to full health…and we don’t have to view my husband as a ticking time-bomb!  Please pray that he emerges unscathed; we’re all ready to bid that bug adieu!
