First Day of Preschool

The girls started preschool last week and have been loving it.  It’s such an odd sensation to drop them off and pick them up a few hours later, not having an influence over how they were spending that interim time.  I know “letting go” is an important part of parenting, and I’m not feeling sad or wistful about it.  In fact, I’m excited for them to learn how to respect new authority figures and to play with kids that don’t share half their DNA.  I enjoy hearing about their new experiences, even though it’s like pulling teeth to get the girls to elaborate on their day.  I’m already getting the one-word answers to my inquiries that I didn’t expect to get until high school!  Me: "How was your day?”  Girl: “Good.”  Me: “What did you do?”  Girl: “Dunno.”  Where are my “Chatty Cathies” when I need them?

Not only are the girls acting older, I think they’re looking older, too!

Showing off their Hello Kitty backpacks (I guess Hello Kitty never goes out of style – I remember spending way too much of my allowance in the Sanrio store as a kid!).

Don’t forget about my big boy!  He may not be going to school yet, but he’s ready to pose!

Give Me S’More

We had a Labor Day cookout this evening, complete with s’mores.  A sweet ending to a wonderful day!
