Crib Climber

We’ve had some trouble lately with Jimmy getting out of bed without permission (like, in the middle of the night, early in the morning, and in the middle of a nap).  We’re working on it and he’s been doing much better lately, so anytime I come into his room and see Jimmy in his crib, I’m a very happy mama!

Camping by the Beach

Last week, we took the RV for an overnight camping trip at the Connecticut shore.  We were blessed that Jim’s mom was able to join us to help with the kids (and catch a few rays at the beach!).  The trip managed to be both relaxing and energizing at the same time – it was perfect!

Here are the kids enjoying their ring pops from the camp store while daddy towed them on his bike around the campgrounds:

Passing time while waiting for the RV’s battery to charge so we could go home.  Three cheers for Jim being so handy at RV troubleshooting!  We might have still been there otherwise (while that could have been a fun adventure, I sure didn’t bring along enough diapers for an extended stay!).

The nonstop fun finally caught up with Jimmy on the ride home:

What a Big Boy

Jimmy got his first haircut on Friday night.  At a full-service, grown-up salon at the mall.  No toys, TVs, or kid-friendly chairs to sit in.  We held our breath to see how he’d react.

We needn’t have worried – he acted as if he had gotten it cut at a professional salon every day of his little life!

The lollipop helped, I’m sure, as well as seeing his daddy get his hair cut a few chairs down.

Ta da!  All grown up!

Party Time

So what makes for a successful birthday party for two 5-year-old girls round these parts?

Boating (complete with homemade edible necklaces by our friend Sarah and dual boarding by Ashley and Uriah)…

BBQ (here are the boys eagerly awaiting their hamburgers)…

Cake (nothing homemade about this one – all praise goes to Costco!)…

A few presents (check out this fort kit made by Sarah – it’s every kid’s dream!)

And, best of all, beloved friends and family…

It was such a wonderful day!

Cheesy Fun

So what did two little almost-5-year-olds want for their birthday (other than princesses and mermaids, of course)?  A trip to Chuck E Cheese!  Jimmy and Danny were quite happy with their choice, too!
