Three Year Old Danny

Danny, how can you, my baby, be three already?  You never cease to make me laugh and smile and want to wrap you up in a big bear hug.  Even when you’re throwing one of your volcano-like tantrums, I have a hard time not laughing at how adorable you are!  You love to wave and greet people in stores and at the park, and you bring smiles to everyone you meet.  You play independently better than any of the other kids at this age – as long as you have a few cars or trucks to zoom around, you can sit and entertain yourself forever (which is even more amazing to me, considering how clingy you were as an infant!).  You use your hands very well, putting together puzzles and blocks.  You LOVE to ride your glider bike, and you love how you can keep up with the big kids on their bikes.  You’re just starting to experiment with riding a scooter, and you’ve impressed me with your balance on that too!  You crave being outside, and you just started loving to swim, as long as you’re wearing your trusty life vest.  If Daddy is mowing the lawn, wild horses can’t keep you inside.  You want to be near any motorized vehicle, and you also want to be like Pappy and “fix” them.  You love to watch only three things – Blaze and the Monster Machines, Paw Patrol, and Planes: Fire & Rescue.  You have no time for any other television show or movie!  You sleep really well at night, and you still take a several-hour nap daily (although I have to make sure you have no toys or books in your crib during your naps, because you will inevitably play instead of sleep!).  You love to drink sweet drinks, like juice or lemonade, and eat sugary candy like lollipops, but you aren’t crazy about chocolate or cookies.  You love to talk, and even though you’re sometimes hard to understand (even though your tongue-tie was clipped, your tongue doesn’t quite do what it’s supposed to), your fluency is amazing and you can chatter on about anything!  You’re starting to potty train, but you’re in no rush, which is fine with me.  Sometimes diapers are just easier, especially when we’re out and about!  You love to help me cook – without fail, if you hear me clanging around in the kitchen, you come running in, drag a chair over, and ask how you can help.  Of course, your favorite part is licking the bowl!  Your laugh is absolutely infectious, especially your “evil laugh” – it’s impossible not to join in!  Oh Danny, I am just so enthralled with you, and I cherish every day I get to spend with you!
