We had the honor of hosting a preacher from North Ireland and his wife at our home last week, and we were thrilled to find that he was as wonderful with children as he was from the platform! His wife was equally as warm and kind. Anyone who’s willing to play with fuzzy caterpillars or twirl around with several kids in their arms is a keeper in my book – we were sad to say goodbye!
Jimmy’s all about the right tool for the job. Binoculars certainly would help a hidden picture hunt, wouldn’t they?! Sure they may be splashing more than washing, but they’re occupied and happy and something’s probably getting somewhat clean with all the water and soap they use (even if it’s the floor!)– it’s a win/win! My Granddad entered into eternity this morning. I will miss him so very much. I had forgotten until today that Becky (and technically Susie, if you use West Coast time), were born on his birthday, July 27th. I remember how excited he was to have two great-granddaughters born on his birthday. The hymn “It is Well” was given out in our church service tonight and I was moved to tears…none of us can choose the day we are born or the day we die, but thanks to the all-surpassing grace of God, we can choose where we will spend eternity: My sin, O the bliss of this glorious thought! For me be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live! Picture day at school happened last week. I don’t know yet whether the girls hairdos and smiles lasted long enough to make it into the pictures, but they sure looked cute in the morning!
The pool is swim-able! Good thing we have heated water!
The girls went to their first Sunday School picnic this weekend. In Becky’s words, it was the “best picnic ever!” The girls also informed me that it was more like a party than a picnic. And anybody who knows my girls know that they love a good party! Here they are “bowling for groceries.” The girls won Froot Loops and Pringles – they were very excited they won such yummy snacks. Between them and their brothers, those snacks were pretty much gone within a few hours! The girls also got to make journals at the craft table, and those journals haven’t left their side since (thanks to Beth for the great photo)!
Jimmy: “Me have mine baseball hat on. Me ready play baseball.” You’ve heard of a four-wheeler. Now here’s our four-on-four-wheeler!
