It Is Well

My Granddad entered into eternity this morning.  I will miss him so very much.  I had forgotten until today that Becky (and technically Susie, if you use West Coast time), were born on his birthday, July 27th.  I remember how excited he was to have two great-granddaughters born on his birthday.

The hymn “It is Well” was given out in our church service tonight and I was moved to tears…none of us can choose the day we are born or the day we die, but thanks to the all-surpassing grace of God, we can choose where we will spend eternity:

My sin, O the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to His Cross, and I bear it no more;
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

For me be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live!
If death’s waters o’er me shall roll
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life,
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
