Enjoying the outdoors is MUCH more fun when Aunt Angie comes along!
Grammie and Aunt Angie here, and we’re loving every minute of it!!!
Jimmy: “I like Jesus. I like God. I like Kate. I like cookies. I like raw meat.” We had our first snow the other day. It was only a dusting, but it whet the kids’ appetite for more.
Jimmy kept saying: “Yay! I can’t WAIT for winter to come!!!” Me? I could keep waiting. But seeing the kids’ excitement helped make me a little less wary of the white stuff. Gone are the days I worried about my kids making messes. It’s taken me four children to figure it out, but I’ve finally realized that kids – and kitchens – are washable! Below are pictures of the boys playing with the paste I let them make with flour and water and paint. It definitely wasn’t our cleanest activity, but it was one of their favorites!
I was minding my own business in the laundry room when I heard someone behind me. I turned to discover that the construction paper fun had continued! Here’s Becky announcing: “I’m crying.”
And: “I need a tissue.”
And finally, “My glasses broke.”
After my girls saw some pictures of construction paper costumes created by my cousins’ daughters, they have been begging me to let them follow suit. Who am I to stand in the way of the creative process? So I got them supplies and left them to their own devices. In the last two days, armed with a pad of colored construction paper, scissors and oodles of scotch tape, they have… …turned a horse into a unicorn: Made functional masks (in addition to fairy wings, which were taped to their backs):
Decorated their window: And recreated the characters from Eric Carle’s “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” (you’ll see a red bird, green frog, brown-ish bear, purple cat, black dog, gold fish, blue horse, yellow duck, and white sheep): I can’t wait to see what they come up with next! It’s a good thing Danny doesn’t mind serving as his sisters’ personal dress-up doll! Even though he’s been walking for five months now (since 11 months old), Danny has recently re-discovered his love for baby walkers. And I re-discovered my love for putting funny glasses and hats on my kids. Having four kids over to play with your four kids makes for some hilarious pile-ups!
(And no, no one was injured in this particular kid traffic jam!) |
