February 4, 2014, at 10:39 pm | Our cruise vacation got off to an unexpected start when Jimmy, then me, then Becky, then Susie, then Jim all came down with a 24-hour stomach virus as soon as we hit the open water. I was actually relieved when I realized we were suffering from an illness, and not just really seasick and doomed to feel like this for the next week. The ship’s doctor quarantined us to our room, so with our staggered symptoms, we ended up being stuck from Sunday night through Tuesday night in a small space, but as Jim rightly put it, “There are worse things than being stuck in an ocean-front jail cell!” So while we were feeling like this:
We were looking out at this, which somehow made it much better (and it didn’t hurt that we had an attendant repeatedly changing the ruined sheets and towels for us!):
We ended up having to miss the first port, Cococay in the Bahamas (all except for Susie, who joined my parents on shore since we didn’t know she was sick yet), so we missed the beautiful beach there, but once we were finally out of quarantine, we got to explore the beautiful boat!
This picture below was actually taken a few hours before we got sick, so you can see my mom and the girls featured on the big screen as their departure dancing was filmed!
February 3, 2014, at 11:16 pm | We traded in our snowboots for Crocs and flip flops last week! We spent an amazing 8 days in the sunshine with my parents and sister on an all-expenses-paid Caribbean cruise, courtesy of my parents. We can’t thank them enough for the trip! Many more pictures to come (I’d rather pretend I’m back in those tropical temperatures than face the snowstorm outside!).
February 2, 2014, at 10:53 pm | Susie: “Everybody (at school) believes in Santa. And saying ‘butt.’”
***********
Jimmy: “You should say good words like, ‘Hi! I’m Jimmy!’ not bad words like ‘hate – butt.’”
************
Jimmy, eyeing his favorite vegetable: “Is this a cucumber…or candy?”
************
Jimmy: “When I grow up I’m going to get a Cadillac Escalade and meet you at the mall. And daddy.”
************
After Jimmy kept giving his two cents about how I should discipline Danny while he was misbehaving, I said:
“Jimmy, don’t worry about Danny. You worry about yourself.”
Jimmy: “I worry about YOU!”
************
Susie: “Life is fun!”
************
Dad: “Hey Jimmy, don’t pick your nose.”
Jimmy: “I’m not. I’m getting a booger out.”

ABOUT US I'm blessed to be saved by the grace of God, loved by my wonderful husband Jim, and embraced by my twin girls, Rebecca Faith and Susanna Joy and my sons Jimmy and Danny. I started this blog in May 2008 when I was hospitalized for pre-term labor at 24 weeks gestation. The Lord allowed me to keep the girls inside until they were 34 weeks along, and on July 27th, Rebecca made her debut, followed by Susanna, five minutes later, on July 28th. We ecstatically welcomed Jimmy into our lives on April 25th, 2011, and Danny on August 31, 2012. This blog has been a personal journal of faith and motherhood and the only way I can remember which child did what and when. Thanks for stopping by to share in my Faith and Joy! Feel free to e-mail me at: [email protected].
