Jimmy told me he needed to keep his head clean while we were cooking. Makes sense. I looked across the dinner table the other day to find Jimmy reclining in his sister’s lap, receiving a head massage. I’m not sure it was the most sanitary dinnertime activity, but it sure was cute! He may not know his ABC’s yet, but I still love hearing him sing (even if he doesn’t love it when I sing!): There’s something about visiting a zoo or an aquarium that just makes you feel like a giddy kid again – at least, I do! We met up with our friends at the Mystic Aquarium on Saturday, and I enjoyed it just as much as the little ones. We were eye-to-eye with a beautiful beluga whale, touched sting rays, marveled over sea horses, and finished off the day with Mexican food and self-serve frozen yogurt, all with some of our favorite people. We all returned home very full and very happy!
These last two pictures are courtesy of our friend Kaitlyn. As you can see, the kids were all VERY happy with our action-packed outing! I had to share this picture from last weekend. You may not realize it, but you’re looking at a miracle!
Our friends Jon and Carrie just brought home their beautiful daughter Anna, who is right around Danny’s age. Carrie and I have dreamed of our kids playing together one day, and it’s finally happening! (I think the dads were pretty happy about it, too!). We’re so thankful that Anna is home, and can’t wait to get to know her as she grows up in such a wonderful family. Jon, Carrie and Anna are a match made in Heaven – literally!
Tuesday was a gorgeous, sunny, nearly 60-degree day here. It was such a welcome break from the relentless cold we’ve experienced this Spring. When I greeted the bus in the afternoon, the girls bounded down the steps and ran up the driveway into the house, leaving me behind with all their coats and backpacks (and brothers). By the time I dragged everything and everyone up the driveway and into the house, I was greeted by Susie, who had shed her long-sleeved shirt and pants and changed into a sundress. She gleefully cheered: “It’s SUMMER!!!!!!!!!”
Of course our summer was only one day long before the temperatures dropped and the windchill got to face-hurting-depths, but hey – we’ll take what we can get! Our friend Tim visited us last weekend while in town on business. He happens to have a thick British accent. During his visit, he was sitting in the backseat of our car, having an in-depth conversation with Jimmy. Jimmy was rambling on about something and Tim said, “I can’t understand you.” Jimmy replied: “I can’t understand YOU!”
We all miss you, Tim, even if Jimmy can’t understand you! Come back soon! A fireman uniform wouldn’t be complete without a little sparkle! When Becky’s not inventing new ways to ride a trike:
She’s inventing new ways to test her Mama’s nervous system:
Good thing she has her Daddy’s amazing sense of balance (and winning personality)!
Gotta love tag-team bedtime stories! |
