I finally have a puzzle-loving kid! It took a bit of direction from me, but he’s got great spatial awareness. Way to go, Danny! Who would have thought that the baby blanket that Grammie made (was it originally for the girls?) would have been loved to tattered bits by Jimmy so many years later? The entire seam is ripped along the length of the blanket, but that doesn’t bother him in the least. However, the blanket developed two small holes that apparently sent Jimmy over the edge, so I was forced to pull out my rarely-used needle and thread to do some emergency repairs (I didn’t think Jimmy could survive being parted from his “B” if I resorted to mailing it to Grammie for repairs, which was my initial thought!). Anyway, I did a passable job, and Jimmy was relieved to have his blanket back in one piece (so to speak). As I sewed, I thanked the Lord for my mom, for her talent for sewing, and for the love that I know went into every one of her original stitches!
Jimmy recently started attending the same preschool program as did the girls years ago, courtesy of a nearby high school childcare lab. It’s a great situation, where each preschooler has his own high school student as his “teacher.” Jimmy absolutely loves it. He finally gets to wear a backpack! As we walked into the building on the first day of class, I was holding his hand. As soon as he saw his friend, he wiggled his hand free from mine, and went over to proudly walk beside his buddy. He was thrilled to be there, just like a big kid! Danny LOVES to make motor noises anytime he’s playing with vehicles. Here he is loudly zooming his plane around the sky: Danny: “This is a fighter jet. Daddy drive with me. He sits in my lap.” I was happy to see these two snuggled up together, even if it was only because the basement was freezing and they needed to share a blanket. Maybe I should turn the temp down more often to encourage sibling bonding! I’m one lucky lady to have two handsome little men to accompany me on my trips to Costco and the tire shop!
And I wonder why my sons keep insisting on “popping wheelies” on their bikes… We had a great family day this Easter Sunday, starting off with a flurry of excitement as the kids dug into their baskets. They were blessed with stickers, books and pictures from Grammie and Grandpa, and their dad and I sugared them up with some candy and games.
Here’s the gang all spruced up, clothes all courtesy of wonder-Grammie!
After church, we came home and did an indoor egg hunt in the basement. It was very exciting for all of us! I’m afraid to say that the children have consumed the contents of probably half of the 66 eggs we hid – my stomach hurts just thinking about it!
Lastly, here are a few pictures of the kids dressed up for a Bible conference a few weeks ago. We let the boys wear their Easter clothes early and I just can’t get enough of them in their little dapper outfits. Thanks again, Grammie, for the gifts!
