Ready, Set… August 27, 2011, at 10:38 pm | We’re all ready if/when Hurricane Irene decides to grace us with her presence. As of right now, we’re expecting to get 5-7 inches of rain (we’ve gotten a few inches already) and high winds. So it’s likely we’ll lose power for a while, given the number of trees around here. But we’re all set with our flashlights, extra batteries, food and water. We’ve told the girls we might be “camping” for a while in our house, and they thought that sounds like fun – as long as we make sure we have marshmallows!
Water, mud puddles, flashlights, and marshmallows – what’s not to like?

ABOUT US I'm blessed to be saved by the grace of God, loved by my wonderful husband Jim, and embraced by my twin girls, Rebecca Faith and Susanna Joy and my sons Jimmy and Danny. I started this blog in May 2008 when I was hospitalized for pre-term labor at 24 weeks gestation. The Lord allowed me to keep the girls inside until they were 34 weeks along, and on July 27th, Rebecca made her debut, followed by Susanna, five minutes later, on July 28th. We ecstatically welcomed Jimmy into our lives on April 25th, 2011, and Danny on August 31, 2012. This blog has been a personal journal of faith and motherhood and the only way I can remember which child did what and when. Thanks for stopping by to share in my Faith and Joy! Feel free to e-mail me at: [email protected].

This is adorable. If life hands you mud, play in it, I always say! We still have no power, and I’m the first to admit it is wearing thin. I confess I secretly wanted the power to go off, but I really only wanted it to go off long enough for us to enjoy a “camping” breakfast in the house. Once the emergency rations started to dwindle and we were left wondering just how long the hundreds of dollars worth of meat in our deep freeze would in fact last, I was ready for it to come back.
Anyway, glad you guys stayed safe! We’ll be in touch, and if power doesn’t come back soon, we might just come play in your puddles!
