Mapped Out

The girls were very interested in knowing what states we were visiting during our recent trip to Pennsylvania.  In an effort to have them not be as geographically clueless as me, I figured I better show them a map.  When we got home, I printed outlines of the United States of America for them and pointed out where we live, where we had visited, and where their relatives live.  After the girls colored in those states, they proceeded to quiz me on the identity of every single other state in the union.

I didn’t do very well.

I’m ashamed to say I had to cheat and pull up an online map to refresh my memory as the girls eagerly colored their way through the states.

Maybe by the time the girls are in middle school I’ll have re-learned all those states sandwiched in between California and Connecticut.  They’re so tricky!

We used to have a (an?) United States capitals placemat… we only had one o we’d always fight over it, But it really helped us learn the states/ capitals. Of course I’ve since forgotten most of them 🙂
