Mommy Dearest

Lately, the girls enjoy pretending that they are each other’s mothers.  It’s very cute, even when it gets confusing when someone cries “Mommy” and I’m not sure if she’s referring to me or her sister!  Tonight, it was Becky’s turn to be the mommy, and they jointly decided it was Susie’s bedtime.  So Susie curled up on the couch with a blanket and requested a bedtime story.  There was a stack of books nearby, so Becky began reading to her sister.  She was occasionally interrupted by Jimmy, who completely ignores all books except when he can rip them out of someone’s hands.  By the time I started snapping pictures, Jimmy had moved on to other pursuits, most notably chewing paper.

Here’s an overly long video clip of the sisterly storytime, complete wth baby brother interludes (you may notice that the first book they look at is a Berenstain Bear Easter story, so if you listen long enough, you’ll hear Becky make some questionable theological leaps, such as the “soldiers” putting Jesus into a “stone castle” and then Jesus turning into an “angel”!):

  • I watched the whole thing… too cute! I love watching Jimmy motoring around – reminds me of Alec! 🙂
Sweet glimpse into a family moment 🙂

So sweet! Everyone was happy and content…even paper-chewing Jimmy. I love the way he tilts his head when he sees you!
I just had a vision of 10 years from now the three of them laughting at the video, and little brother asking where was he at when the video was filmed?
